In November 2011 I completed the Balanced Body Instructor Training Program at the Agile Monkey Pilates Studio in Santa Cruz, CA and in April 2012 I obtained my Comprehensive Certification. Teaching movement and helping people feel better, connect with and learn about their bodies on a deeper level is a passion.

I love to move and have spent my life playing hard and doing fun yet impacting activities. My active lifestyle along with some injuries and a car accident left me with chronic back pain and a list of other maladies. I fell in love with Pilates in 2006 and knew right away I would be doing it the rest of my life. Now I am pain free and get to enjoy participating in the activities I love while helping others feel better, too.

Joseph Pilates developed the Pilates method early in the 20th century. Pilates is an exercise system created to strengthen, increase flexibility, and improve overall health and quality of life. Pilates is performed on a mat or on specialized equipment and the method includes exercises for every part of the body and applications for every kind of activity.

Pilates focuses on challenging the mind and engaging it with the body to create exercises that involve the whole body, strengthening it from the inside out. Every exercise is performed with attention to the breath, proper form, and efficient movement patterns. Pilates strengthens the core, improves balance, increases coordination and decreases stress. The exercises are relatively safe, low impact and appropriate for anyone from 9 to 99. Pilates focuses on learning to move better, so the benefits are felt in everyday life, and is used for clients from the recently injured to the super fit.
